EXTERNAL RELATIONS
The
Institute has very good relations
with international organizations
whose activities are relevant
to its mandate and objectives.
United Nations Industrial Development
Organization (UNIDO) stands out
among the international bodies
with which FIIRO has had beneficial
association. A number of
projects have been executed and
several staff of the Institute
have been trained with funds provided
by UNIDO.
Consultancy services have been carried out for UNIDO by the Institute.
European Union (EU) is another
partner in progress. In
the relatively short period that
it has been in existence, it has
brought some benefits to the Institute
through training of staff and
setting up of a modern Foundry
in FIIRO.
FIIRO is affiliated to the United Nations University (UNU). Some
of its staff are Fellows of the
University. FIIRO is a member
of World Association of Industrial
and Technological Research Organizations
(WAITRO), Association of African
Universities (AAU), African Regional
Centre for Technology (ARCT).
In pursuance of its engineering design and fabrication programme, FIIRO
has worked closely with the African
Regional Centre for Engineering
Design and Manufacture (ARCEDEM),
especially in the areas of staff
training, skill development and
machinery and equipment supply.
